A well-established organisation within the food manufacturing and distribution sector is seeking an experienced and driven Operations Manager to oversee and optimise its production, storekeeping, dispatch, and logistics operations.
This is a key leadership role for a hands-on professional who thrives in fast-paced operational environments and is passionate about efficiency, quality, food safety, and team leadership.
What You'll Be Doing
Operational Leadership
- Monitor daily operational performance and report production KPIs to senior management
- Implement operational standards and contribute to strategic planning initiatives
- Lead, motivate, and organise teams to achieve productivity and operational targets
- Monitor employee performance, identify training needs, and support staff development
- Ensure compliance with health & safety, hygiene, and food safety standards
- Promote a strong Food Safety Culture throughout the organisation
Production Management
- Oversee production planning and scheduling to ensure timely delivery of products
- Ensure production processes remain efficient and cost-effective by reducing wastage
- Monitor product quality and facility standards
- Coordinate resources, staffing, and materials required for daily operations
- Liaise effectively with internal departments to ensure operational continuity
- Support the implementation of company policies and operational goals
Store & Inventory Management
- Oversee store operations including receiving, issuing, and storage of raw materials
- Ensure FIFO and FEFO systems are consistently maintained
- Monitor stock levels, expiry dates, and inventory accuracy
- Ensure proper warehouse organisation, pallet arrangement, and contamination prevention
- Verify and maintain accurate inventory, receiving, issuing, and waste disposal records
- Ensure adequate safety stock levels are maintained
Dispatch & Logistics
- Ensure products are prepared and dispatched on time according to customer requirements
- Ensure logistics and transportation operations comply with health & safety standards
- Support improvements to logistics systems and operational procedures
- Assist in risk management planning to ensure continuity of supply
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar operational management role within food manufacturing
- Strong track record of improving operational performance and achieving targets
- Solid understanding of Food Safety and Quality Management Systems
- Strong analytical, organisational, leadership and decision-making skills
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities
