A well-established organisation within the food manufacturing and distribution sector is seeking an experienced and driven Operations Manager to oversee and optimise its production, storekeeping, dispatch, and logistics operations.
This is a key leadership role for a hands-on professional who thrives in fast-paced operational environments and is passionate about efficiency, quality, food safety, and team leadership.
What You'll Be Doing
Operational Leadership
Monitor daily operational performance and report production KPIs to senior management
Implement operational standards and contribute to strategic planning initiatives
Lead, motivate, and organise teams to achieve productivity and operational targets
Monitor employee performance, identify training needs, and support staff development
Ensure compliance with health & safety, hygiene, and food safety standards
Promote a strong Food Safety Culture throughout the organisation
Production Management
Oversee production planning and scheduling to ensure timely delivery of products
Ensure production processes remain efficient and cost-effective by reducing wastage
Monitor product quality and facility standards
Coordinate resources, staffing, and materials required for daily operations
Liaise effectively with internal departments to ensure operational continuity
Support the implementation of company policies and operational goals
Store & Inventory Management
Oversee store operations including receiving, issuing, and storage of raw materials
Ensure FIFO and FEFO systems are consistently maintained
Monitor stock levels, expiry dates, and inventory accuracy
Ensure proper warehouse organisation, pallet arrangement, and contamination prevention
Verify and maintain accurate inventory, receiving, issuing, and waste disposal records
Ensure adequate safety stock levels are maintained
Dispatch & Logistics
Ensure products are prepared and dispatched on time according to customer requirements
Ensure logistics and transportation operations comply with health & safety standards
Support improvements to logistics systems and operational procedures
Assist in risk management planning to ensure continuity of supply
What We’re Looking For
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar operational management role within food manufacturing
Strong track record of improving operational performance and achieving targets
Solid understanding of Food Safety and Quality Management Systems
Strong analytical, organisational, leadership and decision-making skills
Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities
