Assistant Production Manager

Our client is seeking an experienced Assistant Production Manager to support the day-to-day management of our Production Department within a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will oversee production activities, ensure compliance with GMP standards, support continuous improvement initiatives, and help drive operational excellence while maintaining the highest quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Production Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.
  • Coordinate production activities to ensure manufacturing schedules and operational targets are achieved.
  • Supervise and organise production personnel to maximise efficiency and productivity.
  • Oversee the production process, ensuring the effective use of equipment, materials, and resources.
  • Ensure compliance with EU GMP, FDA, company quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Review and maintain production documentation, including SOPs, batch records, and manufacturing instructions.
  • Support investigations into deviations, CAPAs, validations, and process improvements in collaboration with Quality Assurance.
  • Assist in setting departmental KPIs, training staff, and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency, quality, and operational performance.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Quality Control, R&D, Warehouse, and other departments to ensure smooth production operations.
  • Promote a safe working environment by ensuring compliance with Health & Safety regulations and company policies.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Production Manager.

Requirements

  • Degree in a STEM-related discipline, Pharmacy, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience within a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical environment, ideally in Production, Quality Assurance (QA), or as a Qualified Person (QP).
  •  Strong leadership and organisational skills.
  • Excellent understanding of GMP principles and pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of CAPA management, deviations, validations, and SOP development.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments.
  • Strong planning, prioritisation, and time management skills.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with attention to detail.
