Our esteemed client in the fast-moving consumer goods sector is seeking a Category Manager. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, enjoys building strong supplier relationships, and is passionate about driving sales performance and business growth.
You will be responsible for managing and developing a portfolio of brands, ensuring their optimal performance through effective planning, execution, and collaboration with both internal teams and external partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with suppliers to support mutual growth
- Collaborate on joint business plans, including new product opportunities and market expansion initiative
- Secure and manage supplier budgets while overseeing internal fund allocation
- Support and guide the sales team with the tools and strategies required for successful execution
- Implement best practices and tools to maximise sales performance
- Ensure clear communication of commercial plans across relevant teams
- Conduct regular in-store visits to identify opportunities and improve performance
- Identify and onboard new brands, ensuring successful market entry
- Work closely with internal stakeholders on brand positioning, pricing, and go-to-market strategies
- Monitor brand performance and recommend actions to improve profitability and market share
- Drive financial performance through accurate forecasting and effective budget management
- Prepare commercial proposals tailored to different channels and key clients
- Monitor budgets, manage claims, and ensure cost control
- Oversee stock forecasting and supplier order planning
Requirements
- Degree in Business or a related field
- 2–3 years’ experience in a similar commercial or business-focused role
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Fluent in both English and Maltese (written and spoken)
- Experience in sourcing and negotiating with suppliers is considered an asset
- Valid driving licence
