Seaman - Private Yacht

Our client is seeking an experienced and reliable Seaman to join a private small yacht in Malta. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous yachting or maritime experience who is comfortable working aboard a smaller private vessel and maintaining it to a high standard.

The ideal candidate will be hands-on, responsible and proactive, with a genuine interest in maritime work. The successful candidate will assist with the yacht's day-to-day operations, maintenance and upkeep, ensuring the vessel remains safe, clean and in excellent condition.

Liveaboard accommodation is available on the yacht.

The Main Responsibilities include: 

• Assist with the day-to-day operation and handling of the yacht.
• Carry out routine cleaning, washing and general maintenance of the vessel, including the deck and exterior areas.
• Assist with mooring, anchoring and docking procedures when required. 
• Ensure the yacht is maintained in a clean, safe and presentable condition at all times.
• Assist with basic maintenance tasks and identify any issues requiring attention.
• Support onboard preparations before and after outings.
• Follow all relevant safety procedures and ensure appropriate onboard equipment is maintained.
• Provide general assistance to the yacht owner as required.

Requirements

• Fluency in Maltese is strongly preferred.
• Previous experience as a Seaman or Deckhand
• Practical knowledge of yacht handling, mooring, anchoring and general vessel maintenance.
• A hands-on approach, with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
• Reliable, trustworthy and professional, with a strong sense of responsibility.
• Valid maritime qualifications, safety certificates and relevant boating licences would be considered an asset, depending on the candidate's experience and responsibilities.
• Flexible and willing to adapt to the requirements of private yacht operations.

Education and experience

• Candidates who are familiar with local maritime practices and the Maltese yachting environment will be considered favourably.
