Our client within the Finacial Services is looking for a Regulatory Compliance Officer to ensure that the company complies with Maltese and EU laws and regulatory requirements. The selected candidate will provide legal and regulatory guidance, oversees compliance programmes, and liaises with authorities such as the MFSA and FIAU.
Responsibilities:
Oversee legal and regulatory compliance with Maltese and EU laws, including the Banking Act, MFSA Banking Rules, and related frameworks.
Advise senior management and the Board on regulatory obligations, emerging risks, and compliance implications of business decisions.
Develop and maintain internal policies, procedures, and governance documents to ensure ongoing regulatory alignment.
Manage and implement the compliance monitoring programme, including risk assessments and gap analyses.
Ensure timely and accurate regulatory reporting to authorities such as MFSA and FIAU.
Oversee AML/CFT activities, including customer due diligence, transaction monitoring, and suspicious activity reporting.
Liaise with regulators during inspections and supervisory reviews, and coordinate responses and remediation actions.
Work closely with risk, audit, legal, and business teams to promote a strong compliance culture and deliver regulatory training to staff.
Requirements
Warranted Advocate in Malta. Minimum 3 years’ experience in regulatory compliance within the banking or financial services sector.
Strong knowledge of Maltese and EU financial services legislation, including AML/CFT frameworks, prudential requirements, and conductofbusiness rules.
Experience in interacting with MFSA, FIAU, and other supervisory bodies.
Professional certifications (e.g., ICA, ACAMS) considered an asset.
