Our client is a well known law firm having both local and international presence. They are looking for a motivated Lawyer or Regulatory Advisor to join their growing team as a FinTech Lawyer.
The successful candidate will work within a team advising a diverse client base including investment firms, fund managers, collective investment schemes, credit institutions, electronic money institutions, payment institutions and crypto asset service providers. A core focus of the role will be supporting clients on regulatory matters relating to digital operational resilience, ICT risk management, and outsourcing arrangements, including work under the EU’s Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA).
Key Responsibilities
advising clients on Maltese and EU financial services regulation applicable to investment firms, collective investment schemes, financial institutions, crypto-asset service providers, and other financial services operators;
assisting with the structuring of operational set-ups, and MFSA authorisation processes;
supporting clients on ongoing regulatory compliance matters, including the preparation and review of internal policies and procedures, governance frameworks, and regulatory submissions;
advising on technology driven regulatory requirements, including ICT risk management outsourcing, and third party arrangements; and
monitoring legal and regulatory developments in the fintech, regtech and digital resilience space, and contributing to legal updates and internal knowledge initiatives.
Requirements
2-3 years of local experience in financial services or regulatory advisory work
a solid understanding of EU financial services regulation and familiarity with regulatory interaction, particularly with the Malta Financial Services Authority;
Collaborative team player with a proactive and positive attitude
strong drafting, analytical and organisational skills, with a careful and methodical approach to regulatory work;
prior experience advising on DORA and/or ICTrelated regulatory frameworks would be considered an asset, however is not mandatory;
excellent written and spoken English; knowledge of Maltese would be considered an asset.
