One of our clients is looking for a Financial Services & Fintech Specialist, to join its Financial Services Department, to lead and grow our Fintech and Financial Regulatory practice, with expertise in emerging technologies, financial innovation, and EU frameworks including MiCA.
This is a leadership role for a motivated professional ready to shape the future of fintech and regulatory advisory.
Responsibilities:
Provide legal and regulatory guidance on financial technology and digital asset matters within the EU regulatory framework.
Advise clients on matters related to crypto-asset service providers, digital asset offerings, tokenisation projects, blockchain solutions, and related technologies.
Support the setup and structuring of fintech and digital asset initiatives operating within European regulations.
Assist clients with licensing processes and ongoing regulatory requirements with the Malta Financial Services Authority.
Advise regulated entities such as electronic money institutions, payment institutions, and crypto-asset service providers on compliance, governance, and operational requirements.
Draft and review regulatory documentation, internal policies, procedures, and compliance manuals.
Act as a key point of contact for clients operating in fintech, digital assets, and financial services.
Contribute to the growth of the firm’s client portfolio in the fintech and digital assets space.
Participate in industry events, consultations, and regulatory discussions within the financial services sector.
Support knowledge-sharing initiatives through articles, presentations, seminars, and webinars.
Requirements
Strong knowledge of Maltese and EU legislation: MiCA, DORA, PSD2–PSD3, EMD, MiFID II.
Strong analytical, drafting, problem-solving, and client-facing skills
Proactive, commercially aware, and interested in technological and financial innovation
Education and Experience
Qualified lawyer or senior practitioner with financial services and fintech experience.
Experience liaising with regulatory authorities such as MFSA and FIAU
