A client of ours specialising in the Finance and Corporate sector is looking to onboard a Seasoned Director of Legal to join their team of professionals:
Duties:
Review, approve and draft agreements and other legal documents to ensure that these are in compliance with all statutory or legal requirements.
Ensure assignments are completed within agreed budgets and keep client/partners informed of overruns, planning staff assignments in order to give an appropriate spread of experience
Act as a key point of contact within the firm for the client, and take full responsibility for project delivery and client portfolio management.
Liaise and keep close with other departments within the Firm to carry out legal engagements, assessments or opinions, in relation to specific areas of business.
Review any work carried out by junior members and provide the necessary mentorship for their professional development.
Cooperate and coordinate as necessary with other members of the Legal department.
Must be able to identify business development opportunities and work with Executive Management to develop these when they arise
Support further growth and development of the Legal Services function, also participating in the preparation of proposals for new engagements, developing relationships with clients at a senior level
Ensure that the firm’s quality control procedures are adhered to and perform any other duties which may be assigned from time to time, which fall within the competence of employee
Provide in-house counsel to Executive management to ensure compliance with existing legal and regulatory requirements.
Have a strong presence at events, conferences, panel discussions etc. and engage in third party networking activities overseeing business development
Requirements
Conduct regular performance appraisals and goal setting with staff in line with Company Policy.
Minimum of 8-10 years’ experience in a similar senior role
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and in Maltese
Education and Experience
Must be a a fully qualified lawyer, with a warrant to practice under Maltese law.
