Payroll Clerk

Our client, a well-established company within the hospitality sector, is looking to recruit a Payroll Clerk to join their team. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while maintaining employee records and supporting work permit administration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process monthly payroll, ensuring all employee payments are accurate and on time.
  • Review timesheets, attendance records, overtime, salary adjustments, and payroll data.
  • Maintain and update employee records, including new hires, terminations, promotions, salary changes, tax information, and other employment-related updates.
  • Prepare payroll reports and assist with payroll-related compliance, tax filings, and audit requirements.
  • Provide support to employees by responding to payroll-related queries and requests, including questions regarding salaries, deductions, benefits, leave, and other payroll matters.
  • Manage work permit applications and renewals for Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), ensuring all documentation is completed accurately and submitted within the required deadlines.
  • Liaise with government authorities and internal departments regarding work permits, employee documentation, and compliance matters.
  • Monitor work permit expiry dates and maintain accurate records to ensure continuous legal employment.
  • Ensure compliance with payroll legislation, employment regulations, data protection requirements, and company policies.

Client is considering either Full-time or Reduced hours 8am - 2pm (salary will be calculated pro-rate)

Requirements

  • Ability to work independently and manage confidential information.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Maltese payroll legislation and employment regulations.
  • Fluency in English is required, knowledge of Maltese will be considered a strong asset.

Education and experience

  • Previous experience in payroll administration or a similar role.
  • Experience using Shireburn Indigo payroll software and Microsoft Excel is mandatory
