Sous Chef

Up to €31,000 Annually Full Time Experienced (3 years +) Closing in 22 days

We are currently looking for a Sous Chef to work with one of our clients within the Catering production.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Support the Head Chef in the supervision and coordination of all kitchen departments;
  • Assist the Head Chef with menu planning, recipe standardization, and SOP's;
  • Monitor stock levels, requisitions to maintain optimal inventory and minimize food costs;
  • Maximize kitchen productivity by effectively managing rosters while maintaining cost efficiency;
  • Control and minimize food wastage;
  • Enforce compliance with all company health, safety, and hygiene standards (including HACCP);
  • Oversee daily food production, ensuring timely preparation and high-quality;
  • Support the Head Chef with departmental administration and recordkeeping;
  • Foster a positive and efficient kitchen culture through teamwork, clear communication, and ongoing staff development.

Requirements

  • Strong leadership and communication skills;
  • Excellent knowledge of kitchen operations, food costing, and hygiene standards;
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet production timelines;
  • Flexibility to work on roster basis Monday to Sunday between 6am- 5pm;
  • Strong leadership skills;
  • Candidates must be located in Malta with the eligibility to work.

Education and experience

  • Proven experience in a Sous Chef or similar senior kitchen role is a must;
  • Formal culinary training or equivalent experience.
