Our client is looking to onboard an Operations Manager to oversee all daily operations, ensuring efficient, safe, and cost-effective production. The role covers logistics, production, maintenance, quality, and distribution, driving operational excellence and continuous improvement in line with company goals.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the end-to-end operations of the plant, including Raw Materials, Production, Maintenance, Storage, Distribution, and Facilities, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations
- Manage the procurement, receipt, storage, inventory, and quality of raw materials and finished products
- Plan and optimise production to meet demand, quality standards, budgets, and operational targets
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, efficiency, quality, and cost performance through best practices and KPI monitoring
- Manage outbound logistics and distribution to ensure timely, reliable, and cost-effective deliveries while maintaining high customer service standards
- Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programmes, equipment reliability, plant upgrades, and contractor performance to minimise downtime
- Ensure compliance with quality, HACCP, Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS), and all applicable regulatory requirements
- Maintain high standards of hygiene, housekeeping, facility management, and environmental sustainability across the site
- Lead operational and capital projects from planning through implementation, ensuring delivery within scope, budget, and timeline
- Lead, develop, and motivate the operations team, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement
- Manage operational budgets, resources, and performance to achieve business objectives
- Ensure accurate operational reporting and provide regular performance updates and recommendations to the CEO
Requirements
- MQF Level 6 qualification in a relevant field or a minimum of 5 years' managerial experience in a related industry
- Proven experience in operations or plant management, preferably within food manufacturing, or a similar manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of production, logistics, maintenance, operational planning, project management, and process improvement
- Sound financial management skills, including budgeting and cost control
- Good understanding of quality assurance, HACCP, and applicable regulatory requirements
- Demonstrated ability to improve operational performance, efficiency, and product quality
- Excellent leadership, organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams
- Proficient in ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written & verbal, proficiency in Maltese would be an asset
