Our client is a leading construction company in Malta. They would like to engage a General Manager(Operations). The chosen candidate is accountable for driving operational excellence, governance, integration, and continuous improvement across all related departments and supporting operational functions to enable scalable and high-performing business operations.
The Role
The General Manager(Operations) will report directly to the Managing Director and be responsible for building and implementing operational frameworks, governance systems, and performance standards across the Group.
The role focuses on enabling business units to achieve their commercial goals through efficient, scalable, and integrated operations rather than owning divisional P&Ls.
The General Manager(Operations) will design the Group’s operational model, establish governance structures, and ensure consistent execution standards across all businesses.
A key responsibility is developing standardised KPIs, dashboards, and performance reviews to improve productivity, efficiency, quality, and delivery performance.
The General Manager(Operations) will provide independent oversight of projects, manufacturing, development, and retail operations to ensure compliance with timelines, quality standards, and risk controls.
The position will drive process standardisation, continuous improvement, and optimisation of resources, infrastructure, supply chains, and operational systems across the Group.
The General Manager(Operations) will lead digital transformation initiatives, including ERP systems, project management tools, and reporting platforms to improve visibility and operational control.
Close collaboration with the Chief Financial Controller and Group Head of HR will ensure alignment between operational performance, financial outcomes, workforce capability, and leadership standards.
The role includes strengthening operational leadership, integrating operations across all business units, and supporting scalable growth through shared efficiencies and coordinated processes.
The General Manager(Operations) will act as the primary problem-solver for both recurring and one-off operational issues, drive permanent solutions, explore integration of support functions, and work with Heads of Business and Functions to ensure effective execution.

Requirements
Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA and professional certifications (e.g., Lean Six Sigma, PMP) are advantageous.
Minimum 10 years of operational leadership experience, including 5–10 years in a senior executive role managing complex, multi-business and multi-site operations.
Proven track record in operational transformation, governance, performance management, process improvement, and organisational scalability.
Strong experience in health, safety, quality, environmental management, ERP systems, digital transformation, and operational risk management.
Excellent leadership, problem-solving, change management, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to align operational performance with strategic and financial objectives.
Experience in a construction environment &/or Banking will be considered a strong asset
