A client of ours, a scale up Company setting up locally, and specialised within the Insurance sector, holding a 30-year history in the industry, also aiming at creating a business development team in the near future, is looking to onboard a commercially driven and enterprising General Manager to join their team and oversee their operations here in Malta. The General Manager, (Products & Operations) will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Company's Insurance operations, product portfolio, distribution arrangements and business performance. The designated person will have primary responsibility for the execution of the Company's business strategy, and the identification and management of risks arising from operational and commercial activities:
Duties:
- Manage relationships with various stakeholders, intermediaries, distribution partners, and outsourced service providers, as necessary.
- Oversee product development, product governance and product performance.
- Monitor underwriting, claims, and operational performance.
- Ensure appropriate operational controls are implemented and operating effectively.
- Manage service levels, customer outcomes and conduct-related matters.
- Support business planning, budgeting, and financial performance monitoring.
- Identify, assess, and manage risks within the first line of defense.
- Ensure Board-approved policies, procedures, and delegated authorities are implemented in a timely and efficient manner.
- Support regulatory reporting and licence compliance requirements.
- Prepare management information and operational reports for senior management and the Board, as required.
Requirements
- A minimum of 6 + years' experience within insurance, underwriting, operations or product management.
- Strong understanding of insurance operations and governance
- Experience managing third-party service providers and distribution arrangements
- Knowledge of Solvency II governance requirements considered an asset.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in Engkish
Education and experience
- Would preferably be in possession of ACII or any other equivalent qualification
