Our client is seeking to recruit for a Head of Finance who will lead and oversee all financial management, accounting, reporting, and compliance activities This is a senior leadership role responsible for strengthening the company’s finance function, ensuring robust financial governance, and providing strategic support to the Managing Director.
The role requires a hands-on leader capable of building a structured, efficient, and scalable finance operation while mentoring and developing the accounting team. The role also requires driving operational improvements within the Finance function, strengthening accountability, establishing structured workflows, and supporting the continuous development and performance alignment of the finance team.
Duties include:
- Lead all financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis
- Collaborate with the Managing Director to align financial objectives with company strategy and growth plans
- Act as the main point of contact for auditors, banks, and external authorities.
- Advise management on financial performance, trends, and corrective actions.
- Ensure timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts.
- Review and validate financial statements, cash flow forecasts, and performance reports prepared by the Accountant
- Oversee reconciliation of all accounts (debtors, creditors, banks, VAT, accruals, prepayments).
- Maintain proper documentation and internal control systems to ensure full transparency and audit readiness.
- Lead the annual budget preparation and five-year financial planning process.
- Monitor budget execution, perform variance analysis, and present regular updates to management and the Group.
- Support the Managing Director in presenting budgets and financial updates to the Board.
- Ensure compliance with Malta Companies Act, tax, and VAT regulations.
- Supervise the preparation and submission of VAT returns, annual returns, and tax filings.
- Coordinate with auditors, prepare audit documentation, and oversee the completion of annual audits.
- Maintain compliance with Group finance policies, accounting standards (IFRS/GAAP), and internal
- Oversee all banking operations, payments, and reconciliations
- Manage cash flow to ensure adequate liquidity for operations.
- Approve supplier payments, payroll disbursements, and expense claims.
- Monitor and report on the company’s liquidity, solvency, and working capital.
- Lead and structure the Finance department to ensure clear roles, responsibilities, and accountability.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to the accounting team to ensure high-quality work and professional development
- Establish efficient workflows and operational procedures for daily accounting activities.
- Ensure alignment and collaboration within the finance team and across departments.
- Supervise and mentor the Accounting Team, providing ongoing guidance and feedback.
- Support the Managing Director with financial insights and operational decision-making.
- Evaluate existing accounting and reporting workflows; recommend and implement process improvements.
- Support the implementation and optimization of the Group’s reporting systems, including TAGETIK and ERP platforms such as SAP.
- Contribute to StreamPro’s internal reform initiative by standardizing templates, controls, and
financial procedures.
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of experience in accounting and financial management, with at least 4 years in a leadership, supervisory, or managerial role.
- Proven experience preparing financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
- Strong knowledge of Maltese/EU financial regulations, VAT, and tax laws.
- Candidates must be fully qualified accountants and hold a warrant
- Local experience is required
