A client of ours, a Financial trading company located and established, both locally, and in the UK, are looking to onboard a Head of Finance to oversee their lean team of professionals here in Malta.
The successful candidate must be comfortable operating beyond a traditional finance remit and be willing and able to take ownership of regulatory reporting, compliance, governance and corporate administration responsibilities as an integral part of the role. The ability to manage these areas with a high degree of organisation, discretion, attention to detail and sound judgement is essential.
The designated person will be reporting to the Board, and Director based in London, and responsibilities are as follows:
Duties:
- Leading the day-to-day finance function, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow management and management accounts.
- Ensuring timely and accurate completion of all relevant regulatory and statutory reporting requirements, working with external advisors and relevant authorities where required.
- Maintaining appropriate financial controls, policies and procedures, ensuring ongoing compliance with applicable legal, regulatory and internal requirements.
- Supporting the organisation’s broader compliance framework, including monitoring obligations, maintaining appropriate records and coordinating responses to regulatory or compliance requirements.
- Providing support on corporate governance and administration, including preparation of documentation, maintaining corporate records, coordinating governance processes and assisting with Board or committee requirements.
- Working closely with senior management, directors, external advisors and other stakeholders, on finance, regulatory, compliance and governance matters.
- Meeting all reporting obligations within stipulated deadlines, and maintaining the highest standards of accuracy, including regular data quality assessments and pertinent reconciliations
- Providing practical support to the wider business on matters that sit at the intersection of finance, regulation and corporate governance.
Requirements
- A minimum of 6+ years' experience working in a similar senior role
- Solid strategic and commercial financial thinking.
- Strong leadership and people-management abilities.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in Engkish
Education and experience
- Must be a locally qualified, and ideally warranted, finance professional
- Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting/analytics tools.
