Shift Manager (Manufacturing)

  Central Malta  |  €45,000 - €55,000 Annually 

A well-established Company operating within FMCG, is searching for a Shift Manager. 

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Shift Manager will be responsible for the execution of production, maintenance, and process activities during his/her shift, and the coordination with all stakeholders to achieve established manufacturing objectives in a timely and cost-effective manner.

He or she acts as a guiding figure within the manufacturing plant on a 3-shift rotation pattern, by leading a team of operative and technical staff to fulfil the production requirements while providing support, driving continuous improvement, and holding individuals and teams accountable. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute the daily production plan using all available resources.
  • Lead and support production and technical teams to meet shift goals.
  • Solve problems quickly and effectively to minimize downtime.
  • Collect and analyze data to improve safety, efficiency, quality, and reduce waste.
  • Prepare regular reports on production and performance.

Quality & Safety

  • Follow all health, safety, and food safety procedures (including HACCP).
  • Ensure cleanliness, proper setup, and compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Work with Quality Control to maintain product specifications and address any deviations.
  • Conduct regular walk-throughs to enforce 5S and good manufacturing practices.

Team Leadership & Communication

  • Lead the team to achieve performance goals and high-quality standards.
  • Address performance issues and support continuous improvement.
  • Train, mentor, and motivate team members to grow and succeed.
  • Communicate clearly about priorities and shift changes.
  • Promote teamwork, share best practices, and encourage feedback.

Requirements

  • Candidates must be working in Malta already
  • Able to work on a three-shift basis, including night shifts
  • Situational leadership and people motivational skills
  • Strong emotional intelligence and conflict handling skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • An adaptive thinking process required to bring effective judgement, analytical thinking, evaluation and arrive at conclusions.
  • Root cause analysis
  • Experienced with Lean, IPC, GMP, 5S, ISO Standards, Safe Food Handling, HACCP

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering (MQF Level 6) with 5 years experience in operations and people management within manufacturing, OR
  • Advanced Technical Diploma or equivalent (MQF Level 5) with 9 years experience in operations and people management within manufacturing.
  • Front line people management experience in a GMP environment within the food/pharmaceutical/chemical manufacturing sector.
