Quality Engineer

Full Time Experienced (3 years +) On Premises Closing in 28 days

Our client is looking to recruit a Quality Engineer to join their growing team. The chosen candidate will:

  • Manage customer complaints using structured problem-solving techniques, leading cross-functional teams in the implementation, verification, and closure of corrective actions through the 8D methodology.
  • Maintain Quality Management System (QMS) documentation, ensuring records are current, accurately controlled, and properly uploaded.
  • Investigate nonconformities, including customer returns, using appropriate laboratory equipment and analysis techniques.
  • Review tooling approval results and communicate findings to the relevant Business Units.
  • Perform metrological confirmation and calibration verification of measuring equipment in accordance with established schedules and procedures.
  • Review and approve inspection plans, control plans, and measurement strategies to ensure product conformity.
  • Conduct Measurement System Analysis (MSA) activities to verify the capability and reliability of measurement systems.
  • Review customer quotations to ensure quality requirements, specifications, and customer expectations are clearly understood and addressed.
  • Identify product safety and special characteristics from engineering drawings and ensure their effective deployment throughout the organization.
  • Support new product introductions (NPI) and lead quality-related activities during project implementation.
  • Monitor departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), driving corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives where required.
  • Promote a culture of customer focus, quality awareness, and continuous improvement across the organization.
  • Support the identification, implementation, and verification of preventive and corrective actions.
  • Exercise quality authority to stop production or shipment when necessary to prevent the release of nonconforming products.
  • Escalate significant customer complaints, audit findings, and quality concerns to management to ensure timely containment and resolution.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance of the QMS with IATF 16949, Customer Specific Requirements (CSRs), and other applicable standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Verify process effectiveness through internal audits and confirm that intended process outputs are consistently achieved.
  • Report on QMS performance, risks, and improvement opportunities to management.
  • Maintain the integrity of the QMS during organizational, process, or system changes.
  • Plan, conduct, and report system, process, product, and second-party audits in accordance with IATF 16949 and ISO 19011 guidelines.
  • Ensure timely closure of audit findings and verify the effectiveness of implemented corrective actions.
  • Drive continual improvement initiatives based on audit results, performance metrics, and quality data.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the audit programme and recommend enhancements where appropriate.
  • Monitor the implementation and ongoing compliance of IATF 16949 requirements across all departments.
  • Ensure compliance with Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) requirements while promoting a strong safety culture.
  • Participate in risk assessments and support risk reduction initiatives across operations.
  • Utilize customer portals (e.g., CAQ, Process Director) to manage customer-specific quality requirements and reporting activities.
  • Interpret customer requirements, including technical cleanliness and other special requirements, and coordinate their implementation with relevant cross-functional teams.

Education and experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Hons.) or equivalent.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good understanding of statistics and problem-solving methodologies, preferably supported by Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt training.
  • Good knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 9001, Customer Specific Requirements (CSRs), core tools, process approach, and risk-based thinking.
  • Understanding of audit planning, execution, reporting, and closure of findings.
  • Technical understanding of manufacturing processes, product requirements, and applicable testing methods.
  • Ability to operate inspection and testing equipment to verify product conformity, as applicable
