Mechanical Engineer

Our client is looking to recruit a Mechanical Engineer to join their growing team. Reporting to the Head of department, the chosen candidate will:

• Design and supervise the installation of mechanical services, including HVAC, domestic water supply, sanitation, public health, and fire safety systems across new and existing developments.
• Lead M&E project assignments through concept, detailed design, construction supervision, and final commissioning.
• Coordinate mechanical designs seamlessly with Architecture, Interior Design, Civil, Structural, and Electrical disciplines.
• Integrate innovative building technologies with existing infrastructure, specifying maintenance procedures and equipment replacement lifecycles.
• Measure project sites, confirm material quantities, and manage tile layers, installers, and trade subcontractors.
• Plan and schedule works with clients and installers, ensuring all required materials and equipment arrive on-site prior to commencement.
• Conduct daily communications with clients and site installers to ensure smooth workflow, resolve technical challenges, and maintain quality control.
• Manage site inspections, witness testing and commissioning, close snag lists, and maintain rigorous Quality Assurance throughout the project lifecycle.
• Prepare final project accounts, manage payment applications, process variations and claims, and collect final payments.
• Ensure all proper as-built documentation, compliance certificates, and health and safety records are provided by contractors prior to job sign-off and client handover.

Requirements

• Proficient in AutoCAD and MS Office. Working knowledge of BIM (Revit) and engineering analysis tools (e.g., HAP, IES) is highly desirable.
• Strong capability in managing project budgets, scope control, variation claims, and account collection.
• Sharp problem-solving ability under pressure, excellent multi-disciplinary alignment skills, and outstanding client-facing communication.
• Strong technical knowledge across HVAC, water distribution, drainage, fire protection, and sanitation systems, alongside a solid grasp of current building codes and legislation.

Education and experience

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering, with chartership (CEng, MCIBSE, or equivalent) or actively working towards it.
• Experience delivering mechanical and building services design and site management across complex residential, commercial, hospitality, or infrastructure projects.
• Open to different levels and years of experience, even graduates
• Profiles based in Malta holding local experience will be given preference. Non-Maltese must hold a British certification, and/or experience.
