Head of Mechanical Design and Estimation

We are recruiting on behalf of a leading engineering organisation for a Head of Mechanical Design & Estimation to lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for mechanical design, tendering, and estimation activities across a diverse portfolio of building services projects.

This is a senior leadership role offering the opportunity to shape departmental performance, drive technical excellence, and support the successful delivery of high-value engineering projects.

What You'll Be Doing

• Lead and manage the Mechanical Design & Estimations team.
• Oversee mechanical designs, equipment selection, cost estimates, and tender submissions.
• Review technical deliverables to ensure quality, compliance, and commercial viability.
• Coordinate with project, procurement, commercial, and operations teams.
• Support value engineering, procurement, and project handovers.
• Attend client, consultant, supplier, subcontractor and internal meetings to provide expert engineering input and support decision-making. 
• Mentor and develop engineers while driving continuous improvement across the department.

What We're Looking For

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related engineering discipline. 
• Warrant to practise as an Engineer.
• Proven experience in mechanical building services design and estimation within the MEP or construction sector.
• Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and mechanical building services.
• Previous experience leading engineering teams and managing tendering activities.
• Excellent leadership, commercial awareness, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, estimation software, and Microsoft Office is considered an asset.

The remuneration package will include a performance bonus based on KPIs and will depend on the candidate's skills and experience
