Electrical Engineer

Our client is looking to recruit an Electrical Engineer to join their growing team. Reporting to the Head of department, the chosen candidate will:

• Design and supervise the installation of comprehensive electrical building services, including internal/external lighting, power distribution, Extra Low Voltage (ELV) systems, building management systems (BMS), lifts, escalators, lightning protection, and fire alarm networks.
• Lead electrical and M&E design packages from initial concept through scheme and detailed design, ensuring seamless technical integration with structural, architectural, and mechanical disciplines.
• Monitor building systems performance, identify maintenance requirements, and integrate emerging smart technologies into existing infrastructure.
• Deliver Project Management Consultancy (PMC) engineering support, including technical peer reviews, site inspections, and quality assurance audits.
• Monitor on-site installation works, witness the testing and commissioning of electrical and M&E systems, and enforce compliance with contract documents, statutory legislation, and health and safety protocols.
• Review and verify contractor submittals, ensuring all as-built documentation and operation/maintenance manuals are accurate, complete, and properly coordinated prior to project handover.
• Assist with project commercial management, evaluating payment applications, assessing technical variations, and reviewing claims.
• Ensure all building services aspects of assigned projects are rigorously managed, controlled, and delivered in alignment with established company quality and performance standards.

Education and experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (Chartered status or eligibility for local warrants/CIBSE is preferred).
• Experience in electrical building services design and construction supervision across complex commercial, residential, or multi-use developments.
• In-depth knowledge of electrical design principles, power distribution, ELV systems, fire safety regulations, and local electrical compliance standards.
• Highly proficient in AutoCAD, electrical design software (e.g., Dialux, Cable calculation tools), and MS Office suite; working knowledge of Revit/BIM frameworks is a strong plus.
• Must be in Malta, holding valid local experience in the industry here in Malta
