Our client, working with modern and state-of-the-art technologies, is looking for an experienced UX/UI designer to join their growing company in Malta.
Role Overview:
You own discovery through handover for your team's surfaces, and you uphold the design system standard while you do it. You turn requirements into validated flows, hand off the engineering assets and specs they need, and stay involved through design review and implementation.
You research with the users you can reach, and with credible proxies when you cannot. You design for density, provenance and constraint: large result sets, uncertainty on enriched or model-generated content, and installs with no internet connection.
Responsibilities:
- Own discovery to handover for your surfaces. Work the requirement back to the underlying problem. Shape flows and interaction. Hand over design assets, states, edge cases and specs engineering can build from without guessing.
- Design against the shared design system, and extend it. Use the owned library and tokens. Add missing components and variants. Publish usage guidance. Replace non-compliant UI on your surfaces.
- Run research and turn it into agreed priorities. Usability testing and interviews with users. Validation sessions with internal domain experts where access is restricted. Findings documented, and a prioritised list signed off with the product.
- Make dense analytical work legible. Large result sets, tables, timelines, relationship graphs, map surfaces. Progressive disclosure. Explicit provenance and confidence on enriched or model-generated content.
- Hold interaction and accessibility quality as a standard. Contrast, keyboard paths, screen-reader semantics, usability in dark and bright field conditions, documented states and variants. Stay in it through design review and implementation.
Requirements
- Figma at systems level: component libraries, variants and properties, tokens, documentation others can follow
- Design-system practice on both sides: consuming a shared library and contributing to it, working directly with the engineers who implement it in React and Storybook
- Interaction and information design for complex, data-dense operational or B2B software
- Data-visualization literacy: tables, timelines, graphs, maps, and a working sense of what breaks at scale
- Accessibility to WCAG 2.1 AA designed in, and evidenced
- Sat inside a team with a product manager and engineers, through delivery and not only to handover
- Must be located in Malta or willing to relocate permanently

Education and experience
