A well-established organisation within the banking and financial services sector is looking to recruit a Data Governance Manager to lead and further develop its data governance framework.
The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing effective data governance practices, improving data quality and ownership, and ensuring governance principles are embedded across business and technology initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the implementation and ongoing development of the organisation's Data Governance framework, policies, and practices
- Work with business stakeholders to define data domains, ownership, business terms, and relationships between business concepts and underlying data
- Develop and implement data quality rules, monitoring processes, and improvement initiatives
- Embed data governance principles into change management and business processes
- Improve processes for requesting, prioritising, approving, and delivering data and reporting requirements
- Monitor and report on Data Governance initiatives, identifying gaps and recommending improvements
- Coordinate governance initiatives across multiple data domains and stakeholder groups
- Promote data ownership, accountability, and good governance practices across the organisation
- Provide guidance and support to Data Owners, Stewards, and Custodians
- Contribute to the wider business strategy by identifying opportunities to improve how data is managed and used
Please note that this is an urgent vacancy with a short hiring timeline. As a result, we are currently seeking candidates already based in Malta who have the legal right to work without requiring a new work permit or a work permit transfer
Requirements
- Proven experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Business Analysis, or a related field
- Strong experience gathering, documenting, and translating business requirements
- Understanding of data quality, data ownership, data management, and governance principles
- Experience leading initiatives and working with multiple stakeholders across an organisation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex topics clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- A proactive mindset with the confidence to challenge existing processes and identify opportunities for improvement
- Based in Malta with local experince.

Education and experience
- Degree or diploma in IT, Data, Business Intelligence, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
- Previous experience in a banking, financial services, or regulated environment is a plus
- Experience working with data quality or data governance tools is highly desirable
