An established organization in a regulated sector is seeking a Data Governance Analyst to join their growing team. This position bridges the gap between business teams and technical units by combining data governance responsibilities with hands-on data analysis, process mapping, and quality assurance.
It is ideal for an analytical professional who enjoys working directly with data and stakeholders to build trusted enterprise data solutions.
Role Responsibilities:
- Support the practical execution of the organizational data governance framework, policies, and operating practices.
- Maintain business glossaries, critical data element registers, data ownership records, and metadata documentation.
- Profile datasets and run data investigations using SQL and Excel to uncover quality issues, root causes, and systemic patterns.
- Document technical and business data lineage, source-to-target mappings, and operational information flows across systems and reports.
- Gather and articulate detailed business requirements, process flows, business rules, and acceptance criteria for technical teams.
- Collaborate with data engineering to turn business rules into repeatable technical controls and validate data warehouse outputs against agreed definitions.
- Prepare test scenarios, execute user acceptance testing scripts, and track data defects through to final resolution.
Requirements
- 1-2 years of experience in data governance, business analysis, data quality, or data management environments.
- Solid SQL querying skills alongside strong Excel capabilities for analysing, reconciling, and investigating data.
- Working knowledge of core data governance principles, including data stewardship, metadata, data lineage, and issue tracking.
- Proven experience in gathering business requirements, creating functional specifications, and preparing user acceptance testing documentation.
- Exposure to Power BI, data cataloging software such as Microsoft Purview or Collibra, and data privacy regulations is considered a distinct advantage.
- Prior background in insurance, financial services, or similar regulated industries operating in Agile frameworks is highly beneficial.
