Junior Architect

Our client is looking to recruit a Junior Architect to join their growing team. The chosen candidate will:

  • Assist in drafting, reviewing, and organizing detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQs), Estimates of Cost (EOCs), and comprehensive Programmes of Work (POWs).
  • Support the end-to-end tender preparation process, including contractor procurement, proposal evaluation, and ongoing contract administration.
  • Monitor project timelines, tracking operational progress and budget allocation to identify potential delays or commercial risks proactively.
  • Help conduct preliminary feasibility studies and technical evaluations for prospective development opportunities.
  • Monitor project compliance with current Maltese building codes, planning legislation, and health and safety standards mandated by the BCA, PA, OHSA, and other statutory authorities.
  • Track, follow up on, and manage active planning applications, liaising directly with the Planning Authority and relevant public bodies to secure approvals.
  • Assist with the preparation, technical review, and site-level enforcement of approved Method Statements.
  • Prepare comprehensive Condition Reports prior to site works, systematically documenting the baseline status of neighboring properties and adjacent infrastructure.
  • Conduct routine site inspections to audit work quality, evaluate progress against project schedules, and verify compliance with technical specifications and safety protocols.
  • Maintain meticulous project archives, technical reports, and site documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Serve as an active communication hub between architects, structural engineers, MEP consultants, main contractors, and external suppliers to drive project momentum.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a project coordination, site operations, assistant project management, or quantity surveying role within the Maltese construction sector.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Solid working knowledge of local statutory bodies and regulations (BCA, PA, OHSA, and Maltese planning policy).
  • Technical Proficiency: Ability to interpret architectural and structural drawings, method statements, and technical submittals.

Requirements

  • Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills, with a keen eye for detail and proactive risk-identification capabilities.

Education and experience

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills in English (Maltese language skills are considered an asset).
  • Degree in Architecture or in the final stages of obtaining one.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • A genuine interest in property development, construction, and project management.
  • A valid driving license will be considered an asset.
