Inventory Accountant

Our client is looking for a warranted Accountant to join the Inventory section within the company 

Responsibilities:

  • Take responsibility for the accounting, financial control and reporting of the Group’s inventory and purchasing activities.
  • Support the transition towards a centralised procurement and inventory management structure across the Group.
  • Develop and maintain accounting procedures and controls covering purchasing, stock management and related financial transactions.
  • Ensure inventory records are accurate, appropriately valued and regularly reconciled across multiple entities.
  • Review the financial treatment of purchases, repairs, replacements, sales, disposals and intercompany transactions.
  • Oversee finance processes relating to supplier payments, customer billing, cash management and other transactions connected with the inventory function.
  • Work closely with Procurement, Operations, Logistics and Finance teams to improve coordination and financial oversight.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and strengthen the connection between procurement, inventory and finance systems.
  • Monitor stock levels, turnover, ageing and potential obsolescence, providing analysis to support effective working capital management.
  • Coordinate the financial aspects of month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing and reporting activities.
  • Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and financial planning relating to purchasing and inventory.
  • Act as a key finance contact for auditors, tax advisors, financial institutions and other external stakeholders.
  • Provide technical accounting guidance to colleagues involved in purchasing, inventory and financial control activities.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of policies that strengthen governance, cost management and financial reporting.
  • Participate in Group-wide projects focused on process improvement, operational efficiency and business growth.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in accounting, with significant exposure to inventory accounting, procurement accounting or supply chain finance.
  • Experience in a multi-entity or Group environment is considered an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory valuation, reconciliations, provisioning and financial reporting.
  • Experience working with ERP systems and inventory management processes.
