A client of ours, specialsied within the Construction industry, is looking to onboard a Financial Controller to join their team. The designated person will be reporting to, and working closely with, the CFO and CEO, and responsibilities are as follow:
Duties:
- Prepare management accounts for all Group companies within the Construction division, on a monthly basis.
- Oversee the forecasting for construction projects, and manage cash flow accordingly.
- Manage day-to-day transactions, such as postings, reconciliations, receivables and payables, bank payments, deposits, and internal data
- Track and allocate direct and indirect job costs to construction projects
- Prepare, update, manage, and analyse Work in Progress (WIP) for various construction projects, maintaining close communication with Managers and Quantity Surveyors.
- Manage fixed asset depreciation, and conduct stock taking.
- Prepare and submit regulatory returns, as required.
- Liaise with external auditors during the audit process.
- Manage and oversee relationships with banks, suppliers, and other relevant stakeholders
- Compile various financial reports for both internal and external use.
- Assist in specific assignments and projects, as directed by senior management.
- Provide support and guidance to other team members within the Finance department, as required
Requirements
- A minimum of 5+ years' working in a similar role, within the construction or a related industry
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and in Maltese
- Hands-on approach with the ability to operate both strategically and tactically
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards, internal controls, and regulatory frameworks.
Education and experience
- Must be a fully qualified, and ideally locally warranted Accountant
