A client of ours, specialised within the Financial Services industry, is looking to onboard a Financial Controller to join their team.
Duties:
- Prepare management accounts, financial reports, cash flow forecasts, budgets, variance analysis and other financial information as required
- Oversee the day-to-day internal finance operations of the Group and its entities
- Ensure the proper maintenance of accounting records, reconciliations, invoicing, payments and month-end procedures
- Monitor cash flow, costs, budgets and overall financial performance across the Group
- Coordinate and assist with the preparation of year-end financial statements and liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, banks and other relevant parties
- Ensure the timely preparation and submission of VAT returns, tax information and other statutory obligations applicable to the Group
- Support the implementation of finance systems, automation initiatives and process improvements
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and maintenance of finance policies, procedures and internal controls
- Liaise with internal teams to ensure that billing, disbursements, supplier invoices, payments and other finance-related matters are handled efficiently and accurately
- Assist management with profitability analysis, financial planning and strategic decision-making
- Support and guide junior or administrative team members involved in finance- related processes
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years’ of local experience in a senior finance-related role, preferably within financial services
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, VAT, budgeting, forecasting and internal controls
- Experience with accounting software and financial reporting tools. Knowledge of Xero will be considered an asset
- Experience in preparing management accounts, cash flow forecasts and financial reports
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and in Maltese
Education and experience
- Must be fully ACCA qualified, in possession of a finance degree, or equivalent professional qualification
