Microsoft Systems Engineer

Our reputable client is looking for a Microsoft Systems Engineer to join its IT team in Malta. Individuals must be able to work on their initiative with minimal supervision, be hard-working and be meticulous in their work. The System Engineer will be part of an IT team focusing on managing operational IT Infrastructure, liaising with other members of the IT team and 3rd party suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing and implementing the necessary changes to the organisation’s & customers infrastructure;
• Maintaining and upgrading any windows servers and storage devices required to run the organisations infrastructure;
• Monitoring of systems and infrastructure, and the setup of additional monitoring objects to assure visibility of the organisation’s systems;
• Setting up mechanisms and systems to assure business continuity;
• Coordinating and overseeing planned failovers of all systems;
• Assuring proper backup mechanisms are in place;
• Assuring system up-time;
• Rolling out of virtual servers to cater for additional services as per the organisation’s requirements;
• Coordinating with the Security and Network Engineer on Security and Network projects;

Skill-sets and Requirements

• Knowledge of the entire OSI network protocol stack, such as (IP/TCP, ICMP/UDP/SMTP/HTTP/SSH)
• Experience with PowerShell scripting
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft O365 environments, Exchange / Sharepoint Online, Intune and MSFT Defender ATP
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, DFS, IIS and WSUS; Microsoft Server (RDS/H) and desktop environments
• Knowledge of backup technologies, with practical experience of setting up and configuring of backup solutions, mainly Veeam.
• C1 or higher in written and spoken English

Education & Experience

A bachelors degree in Computer Science would be considered an asset
