Vulnerability Officer (temporary)

Within this Vulnerability Officer (temporary) position you will be forming part of the company's Department of Operations. Your main duties will include: 

  • Support with the identification and examination of vulnerable cases, in close cooperation with team leaders and the National Authority 
  • Advise case officers on the preparation of the vulnerability interview (methods of interview depending on vulnerability, particular questions, issues of concern etc)
  • Coordinate with the Project Support Officer and Quality Officer about monitoring and productivity in the context of backlog management
  • Act as a liaison among all actors involved in the assessment, handling and referral of vulnerable cases in the context of RSD
  • Assist with the preparation of relevant workflows, procedures and reports on vulnerability
  • Prepare sets of questions thematically to be used during interviews for international protection of vulnerable cases
  • Identify challenges and insufficient practices in the workflows related to vulnerability
  • Participate in meetings and liaise with internal and external stakeholders
  • Draft documents, templates, minutes and reports
  • Provide regular analytical and statistical reports of provided services and challenges
  • Monitor and provide regular statistical reports on vulnerable cases

The Vulnerability Officer will work under the supervision and line management of the Social Work Team Leader and Field Coordinator.


Education and Experience

  • University Degree in one of the following: Political Science, Law, Social Sciences and/or Migration is required
  • Demonstrated experience of minimum 1 year as Case Officer and/or Team Leader 
  • Demonstrated previous minimum experience of 2 years working with vulnerable groups preferably in the context of asylum, migration and reception context will be considered advantageous 



  • Professional fluency in English, both oral and written
  • Very good understanding of the Maltese Asylum, migration and reception context will be considered advantageous 
  • Computer literacy, including MS Office applications and use of the internet and web-based applications
  • Analytical skills and strong ability to work as a team member
  • Very good intercultural and interdisciplinary communication skills
