A well-established client of ours is seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanic to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing heavy environmental and construction equipment. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, knowledge in hydraulics, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular inspections of environmental and construction machinery to identify wear, damage, and potential failures by using diagnostic tools and techniques to accurately diagnose mechanical issues
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, lubrication, filter replacements, and adjustments to keep machinery in optimal working condition.
- Repair or replace faulty parts, including engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems, and ensure all repairs meet manufacturer specifications and safety standards
- Maintain detailed records of all inspections, maintenance, and repairs performed, and document parts used, time spent, and other relevant information.
- Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Identify and address potential safety hazards.
- Properly use and maintain tools, equipment, and diagnostic devices.
- Keep the work area organized and safe
- Be available for emergency repairs and troubleshooting, sometimes outside of regular working hours, to minimize equipment downtime.
The role involves working on-site, thus a valid local driving licence and a clean driving record is required.
Requirements
- Candidates must already be based in Malta, with the legal right to work in Malta
- Fluency in English is a must
- Valid local driving licence, paired with a clean driving record
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and other mechanical components common in construction machinery
- Ability to lift heavy parts and tools, work in various weather conditions, and handle the physical demands of the job
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues
- Good communication skills to effectively interact with team members and equipment operators
- Meticulous attention to detail in both diagnostics and repairs, ensuring machinery operates safely and efficiently
Education and Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a mechanic, preferably within heavy, environmental and/or construction equipment/machinery
