Konnekt forms part of a consortium handling temporary employment for The European Union Agency for Asylum (EUAA) in Malta. COI Officer - Interim Support

Location: EUAA HQ, Valletta.

Tentative start date: 01.07.2026 till 31.01.2027

Salary Category IV - Gross monthly: EUR 4,111.47

Job Description

• Conduct in-depht research on third countries, including human rights, political, security, legal and socio-economic situation, based on established EUAA COI report methodology. 
• Draft, edit, peer-review COI reports, thematic reports, or COI queries. 
• Monitor developments in countries of origin and identify emerging trends relevant to asylum procedures. 
• Support the organisation of COI meetings, liaise with multiple stakeholders, internal and external. 

Minimum requirements

• Complete University Degree or postgraduate diploma;
• At least 2 years of work experience in a similar position;
• C1 level of English;
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft applications. 

Advantageous criteria

• University degree in law, political, humanitarian, social studies;
• Experience in research in human rights, political, security, legal and socio-economic situations.

• Good communication skills and well-developed interpersonal skills;

Non-resident rate: Non-Maltese employees who are moving to Malta for the purposes of employment will be subject to "Non-resident" tax rates for the first 183 days from arrival – these are higher than the standard rates. Once 183 days of residence are reached, income tax will be recalculated for the entire period of employment in the current year from arrival in Malta, and the tax will be adjusted to recover any overpaid tax. If the 183-day period extends into the following year, and 183 days of residence in Malta are not accumulated, the overpaid tax will need to be claimed back from the authorities with personal income tax return.
