COI Research Officer (temporary)

In this COI Research Officer (temporary) position you will be forming part of the company's Department of Operations. Your main duties will include : 

  • Supporting the Caseworkers in standardizing high-quality COI used in the asylum decision process
  • Supporting in teaching the Caseworkers in conducting COI researches 
  • Responding to COI queries from the Department of Operations according to pre-defined working instructions and methodology (reviewing questions, conducting COI researches, compiling COI and drafting responses to COI queries)
  • Maintaining the COI queries logbook by taking care of incoming and outgoing queries 
  • Compiling and keeping up-to-date COI Links Lists per specific profiles/countries of origin, when needed

 

Education and Experience 

  • University Degree in Law, International Relations, International Law, Political or Social 
  • Proven experience in conducting research, including desk-based research, related to topics in the field of international protection for various projects, drafting reports, collection of background material
  • Demonstrated previous legal or research experience in relevant tasks will be an advantage

 

Skills

  • Professional fluency in English, both verbal and written 
  • Excellent understanding of the migration and asylum context
  • Computer literate, including MS Office applications and excellent use of the internet and in particular web-based applications and search engines 
  • Ability to deal with first instance decisions, prepare relevant files, presenting facts, researching Country of Origin Information and prioritising sources
