Legal Counsel

  South of Malta  |  €45,000 - €54,000 Annually 

Our client, a leading private aviation company is seeking to recruit a Legal Counsel to join their Legal team. The selected candidate will have the following responsibilities:

  • Compose, assess, and negotiate a range of contracts, encompassing employment agreements, procurement and operational pacts, NDAs, and any other requisite contractual arrangements.
  • Prepare policy documents and proposals, as well as review and enhance existing policies to enhance their impact.
  • Offer comprehensive legal counsel and assistance across various business domains, including commercial, aviation, and employment, among others.
  • Engage in negotiations with external entities, such as suppliers, and collaborate with local regulatory bodies for annual renewals.
  • Contribute to cross-functional initiatives involving legal and business stakeholders, from initial scoping to execution.
  • Collaborate in readiness efforts and collaborate with the finance department and external auditors.
  • Stay abreast of global industry developments, particularly within the EU/EEA regions, which are of interest or may influence the company's operations.
  • Respond to both public and private KYC (Know Your Customer) and other due diligence requests.
  • Aid in the management of the company's contract repository.
  • Assist the Corporate legal team and the company secretary for Maltese entities in handling corporate affairs. This includes overseeing legal matters for select entities in multiple jurisdictions, coordinating board and shareholder meetings, drafting agendas, recording minutes, and formulating resolutions. It also involves supporting major financial initiatives, including the group's substantial unsecured bond issuance and financing for its multi-billion-dollar fleet.
  • Provide support to the broader legal team, including colleagues based in the United States, on projects that touch upon a range of legal and business aspects.

Skill-sets and Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in a similar role, local experience is required
  • A certified lawyer, ideally holding a valid practicing license in Malta;
  • Ability to work on tight deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Meticulous with an eye for detail
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to conduct legal research, analyze information and provide practical solutions
  • Possess high ethical standards and professional integrity in dealing with sensitive and confidential information and dependability with a strong sense of urgency
