Director of Legal

Malta  |  €75,000 - €80,000 

Our client, a leading private aviation company, is currently looking to recruit a Director of Legal to join their team.


  • Draft, review, and negotiate various legal contracts, including and without limitation, vendor agreements, tenders, RFPs, NDAs, SLAs, licencing, and other agreements both in and outside the aviation space
  • Serve as the Legal team’s subject matter expert for privacy, compliance and risk matters, from AML/CFT to GDPR
  • Serve as the Human Resource Department’s subject matter expert for employment matters in Malta and the wider European region
  • Provide accurate, relevant and timely advice to business stakeholders on a wide variety of legal topics and matters
  • Engage with government agencies and regulators
  • Prepare reports, memos, and undertake internal investigations
  • Draft, update, and administer company policies
  • Undertake training programs
  • Manage Maltese and European litigation efforts and oversee outside counsel
  • Oversee and coordinate the efforts of the Malta-based legal team

Skill-sets and Requirements

  • A minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Fluent English speaker, both written and verbal
  • Results oriented and business minded. Able to strike a sound balance between commercial realities and legal needs
  • Ability to lead and nurture a great local team
  • Creative, with problem-solving acuity, and able to exercise sound independent judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses
  • Collaborative, with excellent interpersonal skills and able to communicate well at all levels of the organization
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency
