Food Assembly Head

  South of Malta  |  Up to €30,000 Annually 

Our client within the Healthcare Industry is looking for an Assembly Head.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily production operations to ensure workflow efficiency, meal quality, and adherence to schedules.
  • Supervise and organise assembly staff, rosters, and timesheets while maintaining labour within budget.
  • Manage stock control, product storage, and supply levels to support smooth operations.
  • Ensure product quality, temperature, and presentation meet required specifications.
  • Uphold hygiene, safety, and HACCP standards across all areas and staff.
  • Maintain cleanliness and professional conduct within the department.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef and other departments to ensure efficient production and dispatch.
  • Monitor productivity targets, minimise downtime, and promote accountability among staff.
  • Enforce FIFO procedures and proper labelling, handling, and storage of ingredients.
  • Support teamwork, communication, and compliance with company policies.
  • Lead by example, maintaining professionalism and fostering a positive team culture.
  • Plan, coordinate, and assign tasks while ensuring confidentiality and operational efficiency.
  • Perform additional duties as required by management.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role within food production, catering, or a similar operational environment.
  • Strong understanding of HACCP principles, food safety, and hygiene regulations.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills with the ability to meet tight production deadlines.
  • Solid knowledge of stock control, workflow planning, and resource management.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team, fostering collaboration and accountability.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with management and cross-functional teams.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality and safety standards.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to operational challenges.
  • Proficiency in using basic computer systems for scheduling, reporting, and documentation.
  • Flexibility to work in a fast-paced, shift-based environment.
  • A qualification in Food Handling, Culinary Arts, or Production Management will be considered an asset.
