Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant (temporary)

Within this Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant role, you will be forming part of the company’s Department of Operations. Your main duties will include:

  • Organise, conduct and/or contribute to regular monitoring and periodical evaluation activities in relation to operational activities
  • Contribute to drafting and review of documentation in respect of operational interventions including plans, special support plans, specific projects and national or regional roadmaps in particular for aspects concerning their monitoring evaluation such as monitoring plans, logical framework, design of indicators and targets
  • Contribute to the review and further development of the monitoring and evaluation processes as well as of support tools for monitoring and evaluation 
  • Perform monitoring visits when activities are implemented and produce ad-hoc monitoring reports
  • Ensure that feedback loop mechanism is provided with relevant monitoring analytical input for informed decision-making processes as per Monitoring of Operations User Guide
  • Ensure continuous coordination and liaison while performing any monitoring function, with the PMOs concerned operations management and implementation teams
  • Contribute to the planning of operations including leading on the coordination of in-country activities related to needs assessment exercises 
  • Act as a focal point for regular data analysis, analysis of reports and documents and draft regular reports as part of the implementation of the monitoring function in the area of competence
  • Participate fully in teamwork with staff, in particular, other staff in the sectors of the Planning and Evaluation Unit, with the operations implementation team in the area of competence as well as with colleagues in the Information and Analysis Unit

Education and Experience

  • University degree in any of these fields: Political Science, International Relations, Economics, Research and Statistical Analysis 
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in an M&E position responsible for implementing M&E activities of international development and humanitarian projects
  • Experience in designing, implementing and managing projects and M&E systems from project initiation to closeout steps
  • Experience in strategic planning and performance management including indicator selection, target setting, reporting, database management and developing M&E and performance monitoring plans
  • Experience in developing and refining data collection tools and conducting data analysis

Skills

  • Excellent planning and organisational skills and the ability to prioritise work and deliver under pressure
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and capacity to liaise with other teams, managers outside the line of management and external stakeholders including institutional partners
  • Excellent analytical skills, capacity to manage several processes simultaneously
  • Ability to perform a variety of conceptual analysis required for the formulation, administration and evaluation of projects
  • Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team in a multicultural and multilingual environment
  • Good computer applications skills, including proficiency in Excel
