Budget Planning Assistant (temporary)

Within this Budget Planning Assistant (temporary) position you will be forming part of the company’s Operations Department. Your main duties will include:

  • Providing support for the budget planning, forecasting, monitoring and reporting
  • Defining, designing and developing or improving budget planning, monitoring and reporting tools, templates and checklists; in line with the agreed reporting requirements, and in cooperation with the company’s Operations Unit
  • Providing support in the operations of other focal points of the company on the process of forecasting and reviewing operational budget needs
  • Overseeing and supporting the high-level budget review and monitoring of budget implementation
  • Gathering, consolidating and providing timely updates/regular reports on operational budget implementation
  • Preparing Budget Versus Actual expenditure reports on a monthly basis, including brief analysis, identifying and flagging budget issues
  • Ensuring there is available standard budget information, feeding back from all Plans within the company’s Operations department, and distributed to all relevant staff
  • Addressing any issues arising from the financial reports and ensure that agreed actions are followed up and completed, in close collaboration with the relevant focal points and company services (finance, procurement, etc.)
  • Ensuring regular cooperation and close collaboration with other branches of the company in order to promote consistency and ensure timely availability of accurate information, as well as anticipate changes or risks with budgetary impact
  • Supporting the development of scenario planning and contingency planning capacity in the Operations department, through support for a comprehensive change management approach


Education & Experience

This vacancy requires:

  • A university degree level of education in a relevant field (Economics, Finance, Accounting, etc.) is required
  • Fluency in verbal and written English
  • A minimum of 3 years working in a similar position related to budgeting and/or projects/programmes development
  • Previous experience working in an EU body or knowledge of the EU financial procedures and workflows is considered an asset
  • Proficiency IT applications, including MS Office and especially Excel



  • Excellent reporting skills and the ability to communicate the findings with others
  • Ability to work on own initiative and to tight deadlines
  • Very good analytical skills with the ability of keeping attention to detail in his/her reports
  • A dynamic individual with good planning and forecasting skills
