Tooling Manager

Malta  |  €40,000 - €45,000 

A new job opportunity for a Tooling Manager is now available within a leading manufacturing company. Reporting directly to the Production Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Making or improving different types of tools to enable the production processes to be as efficient as possible such as jigs, fixtures, clamps or moulds
  • Managing a team of people and have budgetary responsibilities
  • All aspects of in-house tool manufacturing, maintenance
  • Leading and coordinating resources within the Toolroom to ensure all tooling are produced efficiently, on time and in line with quality standards
  • Ensuring that all Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to
  • Implementing and managing continuous improvement and modern manufacturing principles by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working practices and processes
  • Overseeing key projects, processes and performance reports, data and analysis
  • Analyzing technology trends, human resources needs and market demand to plan projects

Skill-sets and Requirements

  • This position is a highly active role, thus excellent teamwork and relationship management skills are essential
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills coupled with a drive for continuous improvement
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills with a results-oriented and hands-on approach to work
  • Experience in environments undergoing change management and restructuring would be considered an asset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are required

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering as a minimum
  • 5 years experience in managing a Tool Shop, and the design, creation and validation of custom mechanical tooling
  • 5 years of demonstrated experience in a similar management position ideally in a manufacturing setup
