As the Structural Engineer, you will be expected to prepare detailed design calculations and drawings and oversee the construction of the projects.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Design and analysis of structures mainly in masonry and concrete
- Preparing reports with the right calculations about loads, stresses and strains regarding the components
- Selecting and utilising the right material, while considering their strength and how their inclusion may necessitate a change of structural design
- Liaising with other designers, including architects, to agree on safe designs and their fit with the aesthetic concept of the construction
- Examining structures at risk of collapse and advise how to improve their structural integrity
- Liaising with construction contractors to ensure that newly erected buildings are structurally sound
- Applying expert knowledge of the forces that act on various structures
Skill-sets and Requirements
- Fluency in both written and spoken English is an absolute must, knowledge of Maltese will be considered an asset
- Exceptional problem solving and decision skills
- Highly conversant with computer-aided design software
- A positive ‘can do’ attitude, with the ability to work independently
