Engineering Manager

  South of Malta  |  €35,000 - €45,000 Annually 

To manage the engineering function to ensure equipment, services and factory buildings are maintained in a safe and efficient manner. To manage projects ensuring they are delivered on time and to cost and quality targets.

  • Establishes mechanisms and goals for individual maintenance supervisors to provide adequate information for the Business Plan.
  • Balances the resources of maintenance teams to ensure they achieve their objectives effectively.
  • Facilitates coordination and seamless handovers between maintenance teams.
  • Maximizes asset utilization by applying TPM and lean manufacturing principles for efficient use of personnel, systems, processes, and energy.
  • Develops and maintains critical engineering and maintenance skills within the department.
  • Evaluates and integrates new processes, equipment, and technological advancements relevant to the business.
  • Prepares and manages the departmental budget, monitors deviations, and formulates expenditure requests.
  • Plans, implements, and oversees projects, including the deployment of new equipment, processes, and improvements.
  • Identifies training requirements and supports career development within the team.
  • Adheres to Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Continuous Improvement practices.
  • Ensures compliance with legal standards for PPE and lifting devices.
  • Attends industry events and engages with machine suppliers to stay updated on relevant technological advancements.

Skills & Requirements

  • Degree level or equivalent in a science mathematical or engineering subject
  • 6-Sigma Green Belt (will be considered an asset)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good project management skills. Knowledge of Prince 2 an advantage.
  • Significant experience at this level in a manufacturing environment FMCG. Security print experience would be an advantage.
  • Highly Energetic, strong interpersonal and people management skills.
  • Proven ability to engage and successfully lead a team of people.
  • Lean manufacturing background.
  • Engineering warrant holder or eligible for one.
  • Fluency in Maltese & English. Other languages, particularly Italian, considered an advantage.
