Our client, an engineering services company, is recruiting for a Design and Automation Engineer. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to join Europe’s leading Semiconductor Agency. Based in Malta with offices spread across Europe and an international ever-growing team, working in a professional environment on high tech equipment at the highest of standards. Your duties will include;
- Design, develop, and implement automated systems, equipment and processes to improve efficiency and productivity.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and design specifications for automation projects.
- Conduct feasibility studies and analyze data to identify opportunities for automation and optimization.
- Develop conceptual designs and prototypes for automated systems, including mechanical, electrical, and control components.
- Perform engineering calculations and simulations to ensure the feasibility and performance of automation solutions.
- Select and integrate appropriate automation technologies, such as robotics, sensors, and control systems, into the design.
- Program and configure automation equipment and systems, ensuring smooth integration and functionality.
- Conduct testing, troubleshooting, and debugging of automation systems to identify and resolve issues.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and operations teams to implement automation solutions and provide technical support.
- Develop and maintain documentation, including design specifications, operation manuals, and maintenance procedures.
- Stay updated with emerging trends and technologies in automation and continuously explore opportunities for improvement.
Skill-sets and Requirements
- Proven experience in design and automation engineering, with a focus on implementing automated systems
- Strong knowledge of engineering principles, automation technologies, and industry standards
- Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software for designing automation systems
- Experience with programming languages and software platforms for automation, such as PLC programming
- Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and control systems and their integration in automation
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex systems and processes
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
- Detail-oriented and quality-driven, with a focus on delivering reliable and efficient automation solutions
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Based in Malta
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field; advanced degree or specialized training in automation is preferred.
