Risk Manager

Our client, a financial institution is seeking to recruit a Risk Manager to join their risk and compliance department. The selected candidate will be reporting to the Head of Risk and have the following responsibilities:

• Ensuring a risk culture is embedded throughout the organization and the way it operates and covers all functions and activities
• Managing the Operational Risk office ensuring adequate oversight, risk assessments, risk monitoring and timely reporting
• Identifying and designing of methods to monitor, assess, and report operational risk exposure and relevant risk metrics
• Maintaining close oversight of the operational risk incidents registered by consulting with the respective stakeholders as well as guiding them with recommendations and mitigation action
• Reviewing and updating of policies and procedures
• Conducting gap analysis exercises in relation to applicable regulation/guidelines
• Leading and conducting risk assessments including the production of heat maps and any remediation plans
• Co-ordinating and upkeeping of the organization's Business Continuity Plan
• Assisting in the compilation and timely submission of regulatory reports and participating in the ICAAP
• Promoting a risk culture by participating and organizing operational risk management training
• Ensuring that the organization operates within the approved policies and risk appetite framework and ensuring escalation when set limits are being breached
• Contributing regularly to the Executive Committee and the Risk Committee
• Ensuring that the company is aligned with the industry standards and regulatory expectations
• Keeping abreast with the regulations being issued by the regulator
• Assisting with any other duty which may be required from time to time

Skill-sets and Requirements

• Minimum 3 - 4 years experience in a similar role
• Ability to work on own initiative and respect tight deadlines
• Multitasker and ability to work under pressure
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
• Hold excellent communication skills both in English and Maltese

Education & Experience

Have a Degree in financial services, risk management, statistics, business management or equivalent
