Relationship Manager


We are currently assisting one of our banking clients in recruiting a Relationship Manager.


  • The business development effort within the Maltese market;
  • The support to the development of credit approval documents including full review of company background, financials, financial analysis, solution structuring and documentation, analysing risks;
  • The support in terms to the end-to-end implementation of a deal which includes onboarding, coordination with different areas of the bank, documentation and security;
  • The assistance in planning the portfolio growth through the development of a business plan in alignment with the department budget and consistent with the overall bank asset / liability management objectives;
  • The development and maintenance of relationships with contacts and customers to maintain and expand business for a business pipeline and customer database;
  • The cross-selling of all of the bank's services;
  • The pre-qualification, structuring and pricing of all facilities in his/her designated areas;
  • The assurance of a safe running of the client facility and adherence to all compliance and regulatory control requirements.  Follows-up on exceptions to ensure timely clearing and implement prompt corrective action in line with policy, teamwork and guidelines;
  • The review of facilities performance and profitability analysis and outlining strategies to ensure optimal portfolio profitability;
  • The coordination with various stakeholders and departments in servicing routine transactions, portfolio maintenance and solving customer queries;
  • Remaining current with industry changes, competition, financial markets and other changes that may impact their portfolio or department;
  • The contribution to positive team spirit within the department and other colleagues;

Skill-sets and Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of corporate banking experience: direct client management, lending, credit support, or similar industry related experience specifically targeting commercial loans;
  • Deep knowledge of the Maltese & International corporate market and able to originate a strong client base;
  • Excellent product knowledge with the ability to support the client in its market positioning efforts, whilst contributing to adjusting our local framework with full awareness to inherent risk and potential reward balance;
  • Strong relationship skills and able to build a profitable and safe portfolio from ground up;
  • Full knowledge of all lending and banking products such as Term Lending, RCF, Project Finance and FX as well as all working knowledge of compliance regulations;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Maltese;
