Financial Controller

Our client is a property development and management company for commercial and residential properties. They are currently looking for a Financial Controller to join their team. 

Responsibilities: 

• Overall responsibility for the Group finance function
• Compliance with regulatory and statutory obligations related to the Group’s public bond issue
• As part of the executive management team, assisting the CEO with feasibility studies, project and job costing, financial analysis and other ad hoc analytical reporting.
• Preparation and presentation of monthly management accounts and management reporting to the CEO, board of directors and audit committee, to strict deadlines
• Implementation and maintenance of robust internal controls and accounting policies
• Documentation and updating of, and ensuring adherence to internal processes, controls, policies and procedures
• Preparation of regular cash flow and working capital forecasting and reporting
• Preparation of monthly reconciliations and substantiation of the balance sheet
• Oversight of ratios and KPIs to ensure identification of errors, adherence to internal controls, policies and procedures, and robustness of financial reporting
• Safeguarding the Group’s assets through regular follow-up of receivables, stock control, and impairment testing of assets held on the balance sheet
• Finalisation and presentation of annual accounts and regulatory reports
• Preparation and presentation of annual budgets and cashflow forecasts
• Handling of tax computations and filing of VAT, tax and other returns and payments in line with statutory deadlines
• Acting as a point of contact with external auditors
• Day to day management and oversight of the finance team

• ​ Education and Experience: 

• Fully Qualified Accountant and locally Warranted
• A minimum of 3 years of previous local accounting experience in a similar position is a requirement
• Excellent communication skills in both Maltese and English
